Officially known as the City of Fountains, there are over 200 working fountains throughout Kansas City. It is also called the Heart of America due to its proximity within the US. Kansas City is well known for its jazz history, which can be seen in the Historic Jazz District.
Also known for its Kansas City-style barbecue, you can find some of the most popular restaurants in Restaurant Row in the 39th Street District. There are also many parks and museums throughout the city like the American Jazz Museum, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and the Starlight Theatre. You can also visit the Liberty Memorial or City Market, which is one of the largest public farmers’ markets in the midwest.
If you are a sports fan, visit the Truman Sports Complex with Kauffman Stadium next door, which is home to the Kansas City Royals MLB baseball team. If you enjoy NFL football, check out Arrowhead Stadium (officially GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium) to see the Kansas City Chiefs play. T-Mobile Center is also a popular sports arena which hosts annual NCAA Tournaments, along with concerts.
For a night on the town, visit the Power & Light District or Westport District which have several nightlife options and serve as Kansas City’s main entertainment areas. There are many attractions worth visiting in Kansas City.
