Can CBD Help Improve Mental Health?

You might have heard that CBD products have the ability to improve mental health, but how is this the case?

CBD is also proven to be effective at relieving stress and making people feel calmer in general. Without getting too much into the science of it, CBD affects various neural receptors in the brain, specifically in the amygdala. CBD can activate CB1 receptors, as well as other receptors in the brain, which then causes a reduction in stress.

Specifically, these people took 25 milligrams of CBD daily, and 66% reported sleeping better over time.

Of course, getting enough sleep is very important when it comes to mental health. A lack of sleep can cause anxiety and depression and is also linked to various other health conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and depression. A lack of sleep is one of the leading causes of irregular moods and other mental disorders brought on by outside factors.

5. CBD Can Help Reduce Depression

The next mental health benefit you can get from CBD is that it can help to reduce the symptoms of depression. Nearly 18 million adults suffer from depression in the USA each year, making it one of the most common mental issues in the world.

There is some evidence that CBD can have antidepressant potential by affecting serotonin receptors. It is thought that CBD may increase the functionality of the serotonin receptors in the brain and increase the levels of serotonin produced in the first place.

The evidence is somewhat contradictory, although the way your brain processes serotonin is altered when you take CBD, and this is for the better. Serotonin is, of course, one of these feel-good brain chemicals that help to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, the same chemical that is released when you exercise.

Now, you might be confused as to how this relates to mental health, but the simple fact is that when you always have to worry about having seizures, you will always be worried and stressed out. If you don’t worry about having seizures as much, you won’t be as stressed out.

 7. CBD Helps to Reduce Pain and Inflammation

The 7th and final way CBD can help you increase your mental health are because it helps reduce pain and inflammation. CBD is well known for being great at relieving pain and information.

Now, this might also seem a bit confusing because pain and inflammation aren’t generally considered forms of mental health.

That said, if you’re always in pain and suffering from inflammation, chances are that your mood isn’t going to be very good, either. So, by treating pain and inflammation, you’re also going to make yourself feel better mentally.
