Some people assume that you can’t be a Stoner and still live a successful and productive life, but that just isn’t true. Speaking from personal experience, it is possible to achieve a functional high and to be a high-functioning stoner. However, if you want things to go smoothly as possible, then there are some tips that you want to follow. These are 10 tips from a high-functioning stoner that you should follow at all times.

Right now, I want to provide you with the 10 most important tips so you can be a high-function stoner without ruining the day ahead as soon as you take a puff.

1. Go with Sativa

Based on experience, if you are going to achieve a functional high, so you can still get through your day, you should always stick with Sativa strains of weed. Sativa strains tend to be very uplifting, allow for great creativity and focus, and might even provide you with a little bit of energy.

On the other hand, if you smoke Indica strains of weed, it’s much likelier to make you tired, drowsy, and lazy. If you do like the extreme relaxation provided by indent constraints of weed, the recommendation is to go for a hybrid strain that still contains a bit of Sativa.

2. Watch the THC Levels

Not only is the type of weed in terms of Sativa and Indica important to consider, but you also need to think about the THC levels contained in that marijuana. THC is what gets you high, and if there’s too much THC, you’re not going to be able to be a high-functioning Stoner.

This is even the case if you choose a very potent Sativa strain. From personal experience, to achieve a functional high, you should stick with marijuana strains that contain no more than 20% THC, if not less. Anything over that, and you’re going to be so high that you’re not going to be able to function no matter what.

3. Try Some HHC

Something else that you can try doing to achieve a functional high that will still allow you to complete daily tasks is to try some HHC. HHC is another cannabinoid contained in weed, one similar to THC, although not quite as potent.

The effects of HHC on the mind are similar to that of THC but much less potent. Simply put, a good HHC gummy or vape pen will allow you to get a good buzz on without taking you to the moon and back. If you can find HHC in your local dispensaries, we certainly recommend giving it a try.

4. The Right Strain Helps

If we are talking about the thousands of different strains of weed out there, there are some functional flower strains, or in other words the best strains for focus. Of course, if you need to work, go to school, and complete other daily tasks, you need to be able to focus.

Therefore, choosing the best strains of weed will go a long way. Some of the best strains for focus include Sour Diesel, Jack Herer, Green Crack, Chocolope, Super Silver Haze, Durban Poison, Strawberry Cough, Harlequin GDP, and Super Lemon Haze. 

5. A Few Puffs Will Do

Something that we all have to learn from personal experience is the fact that more is not always better. Sure, you might want to smoke a huge blunt or smoke a whole gram of weed in your bong, but that’s not going to get you anywhere if you have the whole day ahead of you.

We definitely recommend starting your day off slow, and if you do choose to wake and bake, just take a couple of hits out of a pipe, a puff off of your vape, or just smoke a very small joint. Remember, you’ve got around 16 hours of being awake ahead of you, so you probably shouldn’t get too stoned first thing in the day.

6. Stick to Flower

Although this is a personal choice, we do recommend sticking with plain marijuana flower and avoiding vapes and edibles. Marijuana flower usually tops out at around 30% THC, but you can of course find ones that have much less THC as well.

The issue with concentrates such as vapes and other oils is that they’re extremely strong and can contain anywhere from 60% to 95% THC, with edibles also being extremely strong and potent.

The simple reality is that if you vape too hard first thing in the day, or if you consume a bunch of edibles, you are going to be sky high for the rest of the day, and you really won’t be able to get much done.

Stick to some flower until the day is over, and then move on to the stronger stuff. Remember, if you find the best strains for focus, those functional flower strains, then your day is going to go much smoother.

7. Beware of Strong Vapes

What many of us don’t really notice is how strong those vaporizers are. If you are going to be vaping your marijuana, the recommendation is that you only take one or two small puffs at a time, and then see how you feel about half an hour later.

These concentrates are so strong that just a few puffs can get you sky-high, and once you are that high, you’re not going to come back down for quite a few hours. Just be really careful with the vapes.

8. Get a Meal in You

Something that I can tell you from personal experience is that smoking too much weed, especially first thing in the morning, without eating a meal, will make you feel sick. If you want to avoid a long day of nausea and grogginess, it’s definitely recommended that you have a solid meal before your first smoke of the day.

9. Work First, Play Later

Being a high-functioning Stoner doesn’t necessarily mean that you smoke first thing in the day and then spend your whole day in a cloud. It could mean that you simply smoke on a daily basis, whether that be before or after work, school, and your other daily tasks are accomplished.

Although I personally did wake and bake for a very long time, the fact of the matter is that life is much easier when you don’t smoke weed first thing in the day. I recommend taking care of your most important daily tasks first before you start smoking for the day.

10. Be Prepared for the Day

I also strongly recommend being prepared for the day, which means having a bit of food, some water, and maybe even some eye drops on hand. Even something like a strong energy drink might help. The fact of the matter is that even though you’re stoned, you still need to be able to get through your day, and being prepared certainly helps.
